Its current Director-General is Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who started his five-year term on 1 July 2017.
The mission of WHO is “the attainment by all people of the highest possible level of health”. Health, or more precisely human health, is defined in WHO’s Constitution as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
